My MEP002A has 60 hours on it. It idles fine and runs fine at 25% load. Hooked up a 30amp heater unit ran fine for 20 mins showed 75% load. Then engine started beaching black smoke and dropping rpm. Unhooked load unit removed and acted normally. Changed fuel filters and tried again. Unit ran 10 to 15 mins and did it again. Unhooked load unit removed and acted normally. After it recovered turn load back on and it ran a few min and did it again, beaching black smoke and dropping rpm, load never went above 75%. Any ideas what i need to look for?
Injectors could be bad or clogged. Governor solenoid could be bad. I am assuming that you have cleaned and confirmed the entire fuel system is good and that you have fuel spitting out of each injector line. Assuming as the unit runs. Governor is our best guess.
