MEP016A – MEP016C – MEP016D Manuals

The MEP-016D unit is a 3kW continuous-run diesel generator powered by a modern single cylinder air-cooled Yanmar L70AE engine. It operates at 3600 RPM to help save on weight and size.  These units can easily run between 3,000 and 5,000 hours before a rebuild is needed.  Note that for the generator head and controls, the MEP-016A and MEP-016C manuals should be used.  The MEP-016D utilizes the updated Yanmar Diesel L70AE engine. The MEP-016A and MEP-016C units are very similar and share manuals. These are gasoline-powered units that are powered by air-cooled 3600 RPM engines.  The MEP-016A model was used in a very good re-life program whereby the gasoline engine was replaced with an excellent current model single cylinder 3600 RPM diesel engine.  Units that have gone through this re-life program (gasoline to diesel conversion), were renamed MEP-016D.  Note that many nameplates on the MEP-016A units were never updated, but some are. If you see a 3kW military generator with a Yanmar engine that looks like a MEP-016 series, it is most likely a MEP-016D unit.

Consult an electrician. There are multiple ways to connect a generator depending on phase and voltage requirements and grounding scenarios. Never back-feed through a dryer 220v receptacle (or any 220v receptacle).

Thanks for manual don’t know how to hook up I think I can run my house with it when the power goes off but don’t know how to hook up

This unit produces 60 Hz electricity. Many 50 Hz devices have no problem with 60 Hz electricity, but every device should be reviewed. Look at the manual or the nameplate of the device and ensure that it says something like 50/60 Hz compatible. If you see something that only states 50 Hz, do not run it on 60 Hz.

    Hi,
I’m was searching more details about MEP-016D rpm / hertz.
Could be possible set MEP-016D to produce 50Hz 220V AC?

Or I need to use 60Hz devices with this generator?
    Thank you in advance
