      I have a small black tray (similar to a battery tray but smaller) sitting in the base of the cabinet, underneath the coolant recovery tank, next to the battery tray. Can anybody tell me what this is for?

      Most likely a flimsy battery tray or could be a flimsy plastic terminal cover. They were generally included new on units, but are worthless and could have been a way to charge uncle sam for useless cheap things with overpriced parts.
