      I have a MEP-002a and currently use conventional Rotella 15W-40 engine oil. I have been thinking about using 5W-40 synthetic Rotella. Will this hurt the engine or cause undue leaks?

      I doubt it would hurt, but we recommend 15W-40 engine oil (conventional), unless you are in arctic conditions or very hot conditions where more specialized and straight weight oil would be more appropriate.
