KarenParticipant
you could check amperage at AC unit. Try putting on a soft start kit to AC unit. Im not familiar with that model gen, however, if it used to hold that load, and now it is not, it might be time for a new injector pump. Diesel?
KarenParticipantDid you get this gen to stay running? Filters?
Im working on a MEP005a and the electrical control panel has no power.
KarenParticipantWhat is the brand of the fuel injection pump? Just curious… Are you using JP8 fuel?
Sounds like the fuel injection pump is wearing out. When load is applied and hertz drops significantly, the inj pump is failing. Try to be there with an amp probe when it happens, just to insure that its not something going on with the load downstream….If your AC units are Alaskan type – they can reek havock when they are over charged with Freon, because the compressor has an internal check valve…KarenParticipantWere using a tach to gain correct speed while adjust the fuel injection pump – stanadyne. I can get the motor up to 1800 rpms, 120/20860 hz. The problem is the CIM disply does not go over 52 hertz. If I use a VOM to measure hertz at a load terminal, my vom says its 60 hz. cim not displaying correct hertz. Removed magnetic pick up sensor, cleaned and tested – ok. re-installed and adjusted to 1-1.5vac. no problem there.

KarenParticipantThis is what I do. I google the model #, and can usually find the parts TM on line. Then I got to this site, and look up the parts. This site tells you who the manufacturer was for the part. – http://www.parttarget.com/?userguid=B9CCD303-2BD0-475C-ACF5-19198DA1F0F1
KarenParticipantI use this site : if you can get the part # from the TM 24P – you can find out the NSN and manufacturer http://www.parttarget.com/?userguid=B9CCD303-2BD0-475C-ACF5-19198DA1F0F1
KarenParticipantthanks. Ive got another issue, different gen. MEP-806B I have it set at 230/400volt 50 hz. Its ran like this with no issues, under a load for months. Some soldiers hooked up a new water pump and wired the water pump wrong. Another soldier claims he found the switch inside the control panel set at 60 hz and switched it over to 50 hz. possibly while it was running…..the bottom line is the gen speed will no longer run at 50 hz or 1500 rpm…….now its running at 57.4, thats the slowest I can get it to go using the frequency adj momentary switch on the control panel…. Am I looking at buying a new I/O board for this or is it going to be some easy fix.?
