So we recommend that you also purchase separate gaskets that we sell here. This premium fuel filter is a milspec fuel filter for either MEP002A or MEP003A military diesel generators. Please note that all units require 2 fuel filters. Please note the following tips for improving fuel quality for your generator. Keeping your fuel clean will help protect your injection pump and injectors and will keep your unit at maximum efficiency. This item may be a cross of the original Fram part number.
- [Always] Keep diesel day-tank and entire fuel system primed and as full as possible. This reduces water condensate throughout the system. Purchase diesel fuel at a reputable service station that has high turnover in diesel fuel.
- [Always] Use fuel additive to make up for deficiencies found in today’s ultra low sulfer diesel. GMG recommends: Power Service – Diesel Fuel Supplement Cetane Boost.
- [Monthly or every 100 hours] Open drains on fuel strainer, and primary and secondary filters. Drain water and sediment. Allow to drain until fuel runs clean. This is typically 2-3 seconds in normal conditions.

- [Semi-annually or every 500 hours] Clean or replace, as necessary, fuel strainer in bottom of fuel pumps. There are 3 fuel pumps.
- [Every 300 hours] Clean fuel strainer every 300 hours of operation (para 4-20, TM 5-6115-585-12).
- [Every 500 hours] Replace primary filter every 500 hours of operation (para 4-20, TM 5-6115-585-12).
- [Every 1000 hours] Replace secondary filter every 1000 hours of operation (para 4-20, TM 5-6115-585-12).
