MEP802A-MEP803A-MEP80x Upgrade Replacement for Fuel Tank Well Nut A3816. This is a brass machined fitting upgrade to the rubber well nut originally found on many military generators. This includes a Viton O-ring which is a very strong rubber for fuel and oil contact. In addition there is a backup flat rubber washer, stainless steel flat washer and locking washer on the outside of the tank as a backup seal. Each tank requires 2 units. Please review the installation notes in the picture in the product description. These are important instructions to ensure a long-lasting installation.
Installation: The O-ring is placed on the inside of the tank. The head of the brass fitting is installed in the inside of the tank. The nut, backup flat rubber washer, flat stainless steel washer and lock washer are installed on the outside of the tank. You have to remove the strainer to get your arm inside the tank to install this fitting. To replace the upper well-nut, you may need to remove additional items. One trick is to run a wire from the fuel tank fill opening down into the bulkhead orifice. Then you can drop the inner piece and O-ring down the wire and move into place, then install the nut.
