MEP-701A: 3 (3.75) kW continuous-run diesel generator powered by a 1 cylinder air-cooled 3600 rpm Onan engine
The MEP-701A series generator is perfect for home & business owners looking for an inexpensive and reliable source of backup power. It is extremely efficient on diesel fuel consumption. The MEP-701A unit is essentially a MEP-016B unit with an Accoustic Suppression Kit (ASK). As a more economically priced alternative to the MEP-002A & MEP-003A series generators, these smaller units are still built for continuous operation and offer many of the features found on the larger units. They are extremely portable as well. Engineered for severe-duty use, these generators are extremely well designed, and like all military equipment, are over-built to run 24×7 in any weather or condition. All framing, output and control box, battery trays, etc. are made of aluminum leaving very little to left to rust. This MEP-701a features an acoustic suppression kit, a single cylinder Onan diesel engine, auxiliary fuel pump, glow plugs, electric start, adjustable output voltage, output gauges and much more.
- Glow plugs
- 24V electrical system (Brand new 4HN Battery)
- User selectable power configuration (120/240/208)
- Electric Start
- Easy access oil drain valve
- All new filters (oil/fuel/air)
- Aluminum tactical skid mounted
- Center mount lift hook
- Dual fuel pumps (for external fuel source)
- High / Low oil pressure shutdown
- Acoustic Suppression Kit (ASK) for quieter operation
- Designed to withstand all weather & climates
- Two 120V convenience outlets on front panel
MEP-016D: 3 (3.75) kW continuous-run diesel generator powered by a 1 cylinder air-cooled 3600 rpm Yanmar engine
FREE MEP-016D Military Diesel Manuals can be found here
The MEP-016D series generator is perfect for home & business owners looking for an inexpensive and reliable source of backup power. It is extremely efficient on diesel fuel consumption. The MEP-016D unit is essentially a MEP-016A unit (an older gas model) that has been fully upgraded to a Yanmar L70 single cylinder diesel engine. These engines are extremely efficient and make these units one of the most efficient units on the market. This MEP-016D features a Yanmar L70 diesel engine, auxiliary fuel pump, glow plugs, electric start, adjustable output voltage, output gauges and much more. Note: Many MEP-016D units still retain their former MEP-016A nameplates. Sometimes the nameplate is also scratched off, replaced with the MEP-016D model name. The former MEP-016A units are all gas units. Any unit with a much newer and more efficient Yanmar engine are MEP-016D units.
- Glow plugs
- Pull-start (no battery needed!)
- User selectable power configuration (120/240/208)
- Easy access oil drain valve

- Dual fuel pumps (for external fuel source)
- High / Low oil pressure shutdown
- Designed to withstand all weather & climates
- Two 120V convenience outlets on front panel
MEP-531A: 2 (2.25) kW continuous-run diesel generator powered by a 1 cylinder air-cooled 3600 rpm Yanmar engine
FREE MEP-531A Military Diesel Manuals can be found here
Since 1996 Dewey Electronics has been manufacturing and supplying the standard 2kW Military Tactical Generator to the US Department of Defense’s PM-Mobile Electric Power (PM-MEP). This is the sipper of all sippers that we offer at GMG and only consumes .333 gallons per hour at 75% load. This is also the most portable of all of GMG units, weighing in at 152 pounds (full of fuel). The MEP-531A generator utilizes a current Yanmar air-cooled engine. Parts are readily available. These units are excellent for extreme portability and fuel conservation. They are desirable for truck-mounted systems, very remote off-grid living, or home-standby if space is a major concern. These compact, portable, highly reliable, lightweight units are available with either 120V AC or 28V DC output and have established themselves as the mainstay of portable power for military applications worldwide. Their open frame configuration allows them to be easily lifted, stacked, or transported by any military vehicle. This open configuration contributes to the ease of maintenance for which these units are noted. Equipped with a manual recoil starter and the ability to be electrically started from their NATO Slave Connector, these units are used throughout the military where pure military power is a requirement or when portability is a necessity.

SAE 5W-40
Good evening,
I have purchased a mep 804b military generator that has a yanmar engine. It has a model number 4tNV84T-DFM from 2009. The manual states to use
lubricating oil MIL-L-2104C oe hdo-30 . I was wondering what kind of conventional oil would be ideal to replace this?
I need to know what type lube oil i can use for my Mep 804b yanmar engine. Thx
Please use the GMG Contact form for all part requests.
Try this calculator. Most residential backup applications can utilize a MEP002A, MEP003A (or their newer variants, MEP802A or MEP803A). Off-grid applications typically are smaller as they are there to recharge battery banks which often have a solar setup.
Hola
Buenas noches
Me interesa conseguir un manual donde me indique el procedimiento que pueda calcular qué generador necesito. Tengo una carga estimada y necesito hacer el estimado del generador que debo adquirir.
Saludos,
Juan
Dear Sir,
I am looking for the below QTY 2
Portable Generators
Specifications:-
Source: 3Ph
Dimensions LWH (in): 62” x 32” x 37”
Fuel Capacity: 9 gallons
Fuels: Diesel / JP-8
Rated Power: 11 kva
Voltage: 380-400
Cooling : Air-cooled
The standard single pin slave cable will work. Not sure of exact part number. Expensive;-)
I have a 531A and wanting to find the correct slave cable for it. Any advice on part #’s? Thanks, Spark..
Can you supply a part number so we can check inventory and donor units? Thanks. GMG
I have recently acquired an MEP003A, and in need of some parts. First off, I am looking for the J9 plug “male” side w/ at 12” of wiring attached. Someone tried to steal the wiring and cut the wiring close to the plug itself.
We are looking for a MEP806A or B gen set( running), also can you tell us what year the gen set used Allis Chalmers and what year the John Deere engines were used?
You need to understand whether you need any 240v circuits or if all circuits are 120v. If all 120v it’s easier to set up as you don’t have to balance the two hot legs of a 240v system. The MEP016D is best if you have all 120 or all 240, but I doubt you have all 240v unless you have a European RV. The MEP831A is a good unit if you have mixed 120/240v needs. But 50 Amps 120 or 50 amps 240 are not the same.
I am considering a diesel generator for my rv. my rv is a 50amp. which generator would you recommend for this application? would 50amp be 240V? if so then this particular unit would not work. I would then go to the 3kw. is this correct. very interested and trying to get some feedback and more understanding I guess
thank you for your time
